In a letter addressed to the observers and mediators, Sova says with regret that despite Moldovan authorities’ efforts, the situation in the security zone is still tense due to the constant violations of human rights and restriction of movement.
The Ministry of Reintegration systematically receives complaints about the violations and abuses by the Transnistrian authorities from individuals, including foreigners, and from institutions and organizations located in the region.
Sova considers that the flagrant abuse of human rights and the growing tension in the Transnistrian region diminish the trust in the mechanisms set during negotiations.
Recently, Tiraspol invoked the lack of necessary conditions for resuming the talks and said that the political dialogue cannot be restarted if one of the sides exerts pressure on the other, violating thus the earlier reached agreements.
The Transnistria conflict settlement talks were halted in February 2006 amid misunderstandings between the conflicting sides.
