Mihail Cebotaru, department chief at the Interior Ministry, has told a news conference Tuesday that the seized plates do not match the national standards, which are aligned with international requirements.
The police official informed that a working group is currently drafting a bill to re-register the respective vehicles. Until then, the police will further seize Transnistrian plates.
According to Cebotaru, the vehicles registered in the eastern districts are not checked by Interpol to find whether they have been stolen or searched for in other countries.
Until present, as many as 5,895 vehicles have been checked by the police, of which 4,058 are owned by persons residing on the right side of Nistru.
