A Moldovan citizen, from the right bank of Dniester River, was kidnapped and maltreated, being kept in illegal detention by the Transnistrian police, while his brother managed to run away, after he was beaten.
On February 5, the Moldovan citizen Viorel Panteleicu of 29 years old that was marketing apples and potatoes on the territory of Varniţa village, was arrested, maltreated and forcefully taken to the Commissariat of Tiraspol by the Transnistrian police, Commissar of Bender Valeriu Prudnicov has said, contacted by BASA-press. “In Tiraspol, the Moldovan was beaten and kept in detention for three days for illegal trading on the territory of the Transnistrian region”, according to the quoted source.
“At the 7 February common sitting of the Commissariats of Bender and Tiraspol, they decided, the young man will be transferred to the orderly forces of Moldova on February 9. Arrived in Bender, he will be released, as he violated no Moldovan law. Panteleicu had trading authorization given by Varniţa town hall”, Prudnicov said.
The young man and his brother Petru filed a complaint at the town hall, requesting to get a trading authorization in Varniţa, Mayor of Varniţa village Tudor Serbov has said, contacted by BASA-press. “Around 14.00, they were arrested, beaten and maltreated by the Transnistrian police. One of the brothers managed to run away, but the other was taken to the commissariat of Tiraspol, where he was again beaten and taken to a cell with no heat or sanitary conditions, which puts in danger his health”, Serbov said to the Agency.
Contacted by BASA-press, sources from the General Prosecutor’s Office of Moldova and of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have said they have no knowledge about this case.
